Thanks to the fantastic Project Moonbase for playing another track from Cosmonautes Discotheque on their top drawer show. Snakecharmer was also included on their Snakes on the Moonbase show back in the summer. ENJOY!
projectmoonbase:

PMB152: Making the Action
Adrian Baker & Roy Morgan, Kosmischer Läufer, Jacqui Dankworth, Bruno Spoerri, Massonix, WeirdGear, Calibro 35, Mild Peril, Irving Martin & Brian Dee
This week’s show is made up of some the latest releases and reissues to arrive here at the Moonbase.
We have two selections from the long-awaited third collection of library music put together by Luke Vibert, an example of the music used as part of the training regime by East German athletes in the 70s (allegedly), two tracks submitted by our highly talented listeners and plenty more besides.

Cosmonautes Discotheque LP

We have finally finished our album; Cosmonautes Discotheque and it’s out to buy or stream.

It’s an album designed to take the listener on a journey.

Three intrepid Space travellers get caught up into a vortex and their craft; Daytona 87 which Points to the stars. They arrive at Cosmonautes Discotheque – the nightclub and party to end all parties at the end of the known universe. Their first experience of this is the Halloween Dancehall, where they learn the Snakecharmer dance. The evil and malevolent Black7 attempts to destroy the CosmoDisco, but fails through the spirit of the crew of the starfighter Köln who travel Down the Line. The club resumes thanks to the Return of the Hammer and Wolfegroove. The crew of Daytona 87 realise they are truly welcomed and will never leave the Cosmonautes Discotheque

The album has its’ own backstory linked to The Lost Cosmonautes, a gentle nod to The Restaurant at the End of the Universe or any concept album you care to think of.

We hope to realise the story in a future ‘Deluxe’ Edition of the LP.

All sounds have been live performed, recorded and mixed by the band.

We are very proud of this album and would love you to give it a listen.
It was 4 years hard work where we had to learn about computer recording, production and production software, mixing and computer based arrangement. Oh; and most importantly - write the tracks….. Totally worth it!

Special thanks to Colin Green for his bass on Points, THE NKR for violin/vocals on Down the Line.

Sean Woolf

Sean is a budding Sound Engineer from Essex, currently running the Arena Live Production Society. His remix is complex and well crafted evoking sounds similar to Dj Shadow in his pomp.

Sean has been recently found working in artist support for MM Recordings and on projects outside the traditional music sphere.

Olley G

He started making music in June 1982 in the Basildon/Southend region.

Record labels: North Star, Demon, Sonoton, Focus Music

Olleys’ influences – “Ah influences, it all starts in 1977, an impressionable 13 year old gets played Tomita by his music teacher and over the next couple of years hears Jarre, Kraftwerk and Gary Numan on the radio, who can forget seeing Are Friends Electric on TOTP for the first time!, wonders what those instruments are, gives up playing the trumpet, and the rest is history, thirty years later and synths are still my thing.”

Olley is a Composer, engineer, producer, remixer and session player. He writes libray music for TV, Film, Radio etc. releases an album every now and then…

BIOG from Olleys’ wife – “Olley has been a muso since childhood, he’s been in bands as the keyboard player and in more recent years has been composing and producing stuff on his own and in collaboration with other muso’s. He’s very quiet about his successes, his first album sold 10,000 copies within the first few months, he’s played Glastos and he has library music published in loads of different countries all over the world.”

Gagarin

Gagarin is the solo project of Graham “Dids” Dowdall who has operated on the outer reaches of music for many years, working with the likes of Nico, John Cale etc and is currently a member of Pere Ubu and also Roshi feat. Pars Radio.

As Gagarin he makes moody atmospheric electronica characterised by contrasts - urban and pastoral, melody and noise, beats and field recordings.

WolfePhunken

WolfePhunken is the solo moniker of WeirdGear founder and all round good guy Paul Wolfe. Paul has worked tirelessly for many years with WeirdGear and more recently diverting into label affairs with Magico Meccannisimo Recordings. He can also be found keeping you dancing during his weekly dj sets at a function near you or on the WeirdGear Radio Show on Ship Full of Bombs.

Pauls’ Points remix was a journey into the Dub Realms and perfect for pedestrian Summer days. His commitment to experiment shows no bounds

Paul is 5’ 10” in cuban heels and is fuelled by energy drinks and welcomes the ladies to take his nuts from a bowl of bombay mix

Paul Alty

With humble beginnings with a Yamaha DJX, Paul is an avid synth collector.  His epic and cinematic sound design evokes imagery and emotion and working as a lighting designer, Paul’s music is always written to a visual track.  His first concept album, Behind The Clock, being an audio story of an old man experimenting with time and space.  Remixing ‘Points’ has been an enjoyable challenge and an area of work he’s now expanding into.

Cloud & Owl

Creating organic-electronic music to daydream and dance to.

Brought together by a shared love of frenetic dance energy, guitars and glam-dysfunction, it was during a lunar eclipse that Gaz Cloud and Owlin Sanna first discovered a shared mysticism and adoration of melodic synth exploration. A desire to explore similar passions in a city which never sleeps had brought them both to London from their respective homes of Devon and Dublin. It was the best decision either of them had ever made.

Together, they came fourth in the Glade 2011 Homegrown DJ competition with an innovative 30-minute mix (which you can check out on their mixcloud)

In September 2012, they began their own online radio show, Insurgent Souls on Barricade Radio. The show goes out every Thursday night between 10-Midnight BST and spans an eclectic breadth of sounds from techno, dubstep, progressive house, trance, prog-rock, post-rock, folk, psy-folk, minial, ambient, experimental and beyond. Previous guest–mixers on the show include WeirdGear, Bioni Samp, Simon Heartfield, Stuart Russell, Stuart Bowditch, James B L Hollands & Ben Glass.

Citing a long list of influences from Tangerine Dream, Sasha & Digweed, Godspeed You! Black Emperor and System 7 through to Robert Anton Wilson, Haruki Murakami, Doctor Who, Shulgin and the sunrise sky, Cloud and Owl seek to make music wrought with the beauty and chaos of nature with a blend of rhythmic beats and ethereal sounds.

Star-music. Earth-music. Sounds to get lost in.
